Type Specimen Poster & Booklet
About the project
While working on this specimen poster and booklet project, I chose to go with Adobe Caslon typeface. I wanted to go with a typeface that I was not familiar working with and give me a bit of a challenge since I usually choose typefaces classified in Didone.

CONCEPT BOARD

When researching, I learned that the Adobe Caslon typeface originated in 1722. I came across popular colors during that time which was earthy hues and yellows, among other colors. Aside from using earthy colors for my poster and booklet, I decided to use white and black to make the earthy brown, green, and yellow I would later use stand out.

FINAL POSTER SKETCHES

Later, I came across Caslon's distinctive ampersand and was already trying to find different ways to showcase it. Throughout my poster, I used the letter c and showcased the ampersand within the booklet project.

BOOKLET SKETCHES

I used the column grid to create shapes in the negative space and came up with a design that looks new yet features the contemporary Adobe Caslon type.

DIGITAL POSTER ROUGHS

Within the booklet, I showcased Caslon's characteristic features. Also, the fonts around the letter c are fonts that Caslon typeface has ready to use.
Within my poster and booklet it will help the viewer to identify Garalde features within the Caslon typeface as the horizontal bars, pronounced inclined stress, small counters, low x-height, and descending tail, to mention a few.
